A couple of interesting things I did so far this week:

♦ Went to Sotheby's to look at J.K. Rowling's hand-written copy of The Tale of Beetle the Bard. There wasn't much to see, the book was closed and stored inside a sealed glass case. I'm rather disappointed at the press lately. Yesterday, I was informed that the Italian press gave away the ending of the last Harry Potter book. Then it was one of the Chronicles that blatantly printed spoilers. Today, I woke up to a newsflash that The New York Times had also printed spoilers. Well, the new (and final!) Harry Potter book is coming in in three days and news and spoilers have already been rampant for weeks, so I'm going to sign off until Saturday. I just came back from "An Evening with Harry, Carrie and Garp," a book reading event featuring Stephen King, John Irving, and J.K. Rowling. Each author read an excerpt of his or her work and answered questions at the end. I went with something like 20 other people, and it was a lot of fun :)My absolute favorite person of the night was John Irving. ( Read more... )
